Mauricio Pochettino’s team came back to win despite star striker Harry Kane being sidelined with an ankle injury. The Englishman has been out since the first leg of the tournament’s quarterfinals when he suffered the injury against Manchester City.
With Spurs now in the final, attention has turned to whether or not Kane will be fit to play against Liverpool. The Reds have beaten Tottenham twice already this season by 2-1 scorelines in both fixtures.
Will Harry Kane be fit to face Liverpool?
Kane suffered the fifth ankle ligament injury of his career on April 9th. It has kept him out of the team’s last nine games in all competitions. Spurs lost five of those nine fixtures as injuries and fatigue have caught up with team.
It was believed Kane would miss the rest of the season, but with them making the Champions League Final, he could make the squad for the game in Madrid.
Kane’s rehab is going well and this week they are ramping up his running.
Despite being hopeful that Kane can return, it was expected that he would miss June’s UEFA Nations League tournament due to the injury. Kane’s participation in the final could still be a long shot.
How long will Harry Kane take to be fit?
According to website Physio Works, it takes at least six weeks for an ankle ligament to heal. Kane’s injury occurred on April 9th and the Champions League Final would kick off around six full weeks following the injury.
Kane would still lack match fitness which could play a part in him either missing out on the game or starting from the bench.
His presence could be enough to power Tottenham Hotspur to the European Cup, however. Liverpool will hope Kane’s injury continues to keep him sidelined for the tournament finale.
