Liverpool suffer another injury setback as Naby Keita out of Huddersfield fixture
The £52 million summer signing suffered the injury during the international break. Keita had been taken off during Liverpool’s Champions League loss to Napoli prior to the international break.
Keita’s recent injury setback happened in Guinea’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against  Rwanda on Tuesday afternoon. The midfielder was then carried off the pitch by his teammate as there was no stretcher on hand.
The midfielder will now miss Saturday’s Premier League game against Huddersfield.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes to have Milner, Salah, and Van Dijk available for the fixture. However, a decision on their fitness will not be made until closer to the weekend.
Mane is also carrying an injury picked up on international duty. The forward broke his thumb during training with Senegal. Mane could feature with a heavily wrapped hand, but a decision has not be made yet.
Liverpool’s potential starting XI
Klopp’s worst fears about the international break have now been realised. The Reds face off with Huddersfield at the weekend before travelling to Serbia to play Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.
Liverpool are expected to field a 4-3-3 formation against Huddersfield. Alisson Becker will retain his place in goal with Trent Alexandre-Arnold and Andrew Robertson being deployed as full-backs. Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren will most likely be paired as centre-backs. Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Fabinho could get the nod in the centre of the park. Xherdan Shaqiri, Roberto Firmino, and Daniel Sturridge could be played in the attack.
Klopp could choose to start Adam Lallana who has just returned from injury instead of Fabinho.
Huddersfield are still searching for their first win of the Premier League season. The Terriers have scored just four times this term and have three points from 24 possible.
